Many ancient civilisations which we study today were patriarchal (Athens, Rome). As a result, literature from those times often reflect deeply misogynistic attitudes. The work of the Greek poet Homer (the Iliad, the Odyssey) constitute examples of such literature.

'Sortition' refers to the selection of public officials by a lottery, often from an existing pool of registered voters. There exist well-understood and commonly applied statistical techniques that ensure that each random sample of a diverse population represents the entire population being studied (e.g. we have ways of ensuring that a random sample of the Australian population does not, by chance, contain people of only one demographic group).

Hogwarts Legacy is a 2022 video game based on the wizarding world of Harry Potter, created by JK Rowling. Rowling has used her platform as one of the most successful authors on earth to raise fear about transgender people, especially trans women. As a result of her views, the game was the subject of an online boycott. Partly in response to the controversy the game introduced the character of "Sirona Ryan", a transgender "witch", voiced by trans voice actress Rebecca Root.
